ARC - Something Unavoidable by Rory Maxwell

4,5⭐️

⭐️❄️⭐️ One of my last reads of 2024 ⭐️❄️⭐️

This is book 6 in the Split Rock Ranch series and I may not have read them all yet but I just love all the characters and their stories.

This is an enemies-to-lovers story with so much pull between the characters. Izzy may be a fun-loving young man and a brat at that, but deep down he is broken and just needs the right guidance to find happiness again.

Vet, Dr Keegan Reid is just rubbing Izzy the wrong way and they fight like no tomorrow. But it is not only their fights that are explosive, their chemistry is off the charts and Keegan needs to decide if he wants to try to tame the wild horse Izzy is, because he knows they can have a good thing if they just try.

From the first chapter I was hooked, Izzy’s past just crumbled me and I wanted to give him the biggest hug and say it will be fine maybe not today or tomorrow but one day. The spice is hot but it is the emotional pull between the two that made me read the book so fast.

Also, the side characters are the chef’s kiss, especially Jamie. So don’t miss his story in the novella Something Unbelievable. That one is best read instantly after Something Unavoidable because trust me you need to know what will happen.

You can read this book as a stand-alone but trust me you want to know everyone's stories so starting from the beginning is the best thing. Also, this book talks about some really heavy things so read the CW before proceeding.

Some of my favorite quotes from the book!

Pictures are not mine but the edits are!

ARC Review - Loving Leo by Cora Rose & Nicole Dykes

Loving Leo by Cora Rose and Nicole Dykes Behind the Camera Book 4 This was a fun quick read about Leo and Heath. Leo is an up-and-coming cam boy who wants the shot at becoming one of the stars on Carter's exclusive site. But in his quest to stardom he needs to take some risks, risks like filming content in an office that belongs to the man, Heath, he technically works for. But boy is it worth the risk when he is interrupted and the fans go bananas over him getting caught. This begins a cat-and-mouse game where they tease and taunt each other. But the taunting turns into getting to know each other and the connection they felt when they first meet turns into something more. This was a shorter read but oh so funny and steamy. Leo is a darling and Heath is a grump with heart and they mesh well. Even with the age gap and monetary imbalance, they find things in common and that makes them work. Heath is a jealous bean but also very supportive of Leo and I can get behind that. Leo is che...

Review - Humility by Lark Taylor

4,5⭐️ Humility by Lark Taylor Damned Connections Book 4 I have been patiently waiting to find out how Danny and Riley became a couple and I wasn't disappointed. We start with a bang (pun intended) and then we have a five-year time jump. In this book, the time jump makes so much sense. Throughout the book, we get tidbits on how their friendship grew and evolved to the place they are today. Without that, I think what happens next wouldn't work. We needed the stability and knowledge that these two were thick as thieves and know each other very well. We meet two people who are against entering a relationship for various reasons but when life happens Danny has to make that big decision that will change everything. Riley is so hes...

Review - Temperance by Lark Taylor

4,5⭐️ Temperance by Lark Taylor Damned Connections Book 3 This is the third book of the Damned Connections series and this book's story starts before the beginning of Patience. We follow Toby, a vampire and Blaise, a fire mage and their story towards love.  We have had many interactions between Toby and Blaise, in both Patience and Justice, that in this book get explained. Blaise is hurting and hating himself after some bad choices left a human dying on a classroom floor. And even if said human and all of his friends tell him that it’s okay to move on, he can’t seem to do it. He doesn't believe he deserves anything good in his life. He just wants to find peace and can Toby be the one giving it to him? Toby is a caretaker and a...
